Queensland is already well-known as an aviation hub of the Asia-Pacific and has attracted a number of global leaders in the civil and defence aviation areas.

Aerospace is one of Queensland’s priority industries, and the Queensland Government is committed to supporting the state’s rapidly developing and innovative aerospace industry.

Queensland’s aerospace industry has global growth potential. The aerospace industry in Queensland includes the technology and support systems that enable flight of all civil and military aircraft—aeroplanes, helicopters and remotely piloted aircraft. It includes the design, development, manufacture, modification, testing, operation and maintenance of flight vehicles and their on-board and ground systems.

In 2015-16, Queensland’s aircraft manufacturing and repair businesses generated approximately $1.2 billion in revenue and contributed $565 million to Queensland’s economic growth. The state’s aircraft manufacturing and maintenance sector provides over 4,200 jobs across more than 300 enterprises.

As one of Queensland’s priority industries, the Queensland Government has developed an industry roadmap to grow the industry for the next 10 years.
