Brisbane enjoys significantly lower median house prices than capital cities in the southern states. In many well-developed, well-serviced regional and rural centres in Queensland, the difference is much greater.

According to August quarter 2018 CoreLogic RP data, Brisbane’s median dwelling price was $493,922. This makes it significantly more affordable than the $855,287 median in Sydney and $703,183 in Melbourne.

Housing affordability in Queensland is further supported by the $15,000 Queensland First Home Owners’ Grant.
